It is an auspicious occasion when I can cut a crystal large enough to yield this kind of pattern and mind-blowing depth of translucency!  The silver in this gem is off the scale gorgeous!I've done some extra photos with this gem because it is beyond words fabulous.The name is derived from red lepidocrocite inclusions and the red iron coatings of the crystals: the amethyst is purple and displays varying shades from light to dark and smoky, depending on how the cutter reads the crystal. This mineral is an absolute treasure trove of wonderful, sparkling inclusions with great schiller; rainbow flashing veils, ghosts and phantoms! And thanks to my dear  friends who identified the crystal as having the properties of Melody's Stone!  Wow!  I had suspected this for many months but didn't want to say anything until I'd seen the assay results and I am more than excited to understand why I found this crystal so inspiring! Both gems listed are from the same crystal and display phantom formation (this larger cab shows multiple phantoms pattern!)  So now I'm searching thru my little stash to hopefully find a manifestation crystal... of course this would be quite a miracle... but, one never knows!  Many of the inclusions that appear black in the photos are actually silver metallic and sparkle at the slightest movement of the gem!   Looking at the close-up photos, you'll find golden cacoxenite, silver threads and darker goethite needles all having a crazy light show within this gem!  The little blue sparks are spherules of Cobalt!  Bright red is lepidocrocite; pale yellow is iron; high levels of copper, nickel, silver  and some pyrite are present too!  And what about those funny flashes that are just too yellow for pyrite!!! Personally, I've never seen a gem like this anywhere!  The photos don't do these guys justice at all and I know you'll be completely thrilled when you hold them!Listed just before this gemstone, is a smaller "brother" or "sister" gem that's a perfect match for making a jewelery set.  It's a sock knocker cut from the same crystal too!Imho, even Melody would be in awe with this splendid amethyst!  Coming from the ancient Canadian Shield formation makes this some of the oldest amethyst on the planet!  I've heard it called Melody Stone by some before and because I'm not certified by Melody I held back saying anything until I had solid information to confirm what I feel/or sense about this amazing amethyst.   Now it's wonderful to know it's identity and realize why it is a joy to hold in one's hand! It takes just a little bit of lapidary experience to know when to "whoa" and capture all the great goodies in this material  >:-)And yes, I've captured a rolling flash much like Moonstone or Australian opals too!  This stunner took a glassy polish front and back.  Very minimal characteristic surface texture is strongly overpowered by the superb shining  polish!  It is my great pleasure to be able to present this beauty to you and I know it will  soon transform into an heirloom-quality, showpiece work of wearable art or grace a World-class Collection with ease!  Not to mention it feels good in hand too!  Hope you love this unique, Red Top Canadian Amethyst wonder as much as I enjoyed making it.  A photo of this one is going into my "Great gems I've known and loved portfolio."  And that book's getting kindof big!!!    >:-)                                                                           Bunny Custom gems cut on first-come/first-served basis.   horvathi@shaw.caEducation is a Great Thing:        The Canadian Shield formation holds the oldest amethyst on the planet and the qualities are specific to individual locations.  Currently I'm working with two types; Canadian Red Amethyst and Canadian Elestial Amethyst.  And now I know some of these crystals are indeed Super Seven ( 7 )!!!!   Bear in mind this crystal is very hard to mine as weather plays a role in getting the right equipment to remote sites in Northern Ontario.  Naturally, the best rough material is dear, though well worth the results!
