Description
Up for sale is an urn that I have not had listed for awhile. This is a qswo human cremation urn that has a very unusual look because of the flex rays in it. To bring out the wild grain and flex rays of qswo, I used a system of finishing likened to the past, only using modern methods, which is very labor intensive. Qswo was the dominant wood used in the mission, or Craftsman period furniture. Quartersawn white oak is a very heavy, and dense wood, which makes it very stable. This urn is made of 3/4" thick solid qswo with out side measurements of 11 1/4"L x 6"W x 6 5/8" high. The inside volume of this urn is 225 cubic inches, which relates to 225 lbs of live weight. This urn has a lot of character because of the loud grain patterns, and I have added walnut inserts to the mitered corners for added strength, and aesthetics. This urn has four rubber feet on the base to prevent marring of surfaces. The ashes are inserted by taking six brass screws off the base, and reattached. This urn has a velvety smooth feel with several coats of finish for protection from handling.
