Description
Pike County Mississippi 1798-1876 Pioneer Familes and Confederate Soldiers Reconstruction and Redemption by Luke W. Conerly, a Confederate soldier (5th Sgt. in the Quitman Guards Co. E, 16th Mississippi Infantry) wounded at Antietam and Spotsylvania. This is a new reprinting of a hard-to-find antiquarian volume first printed in 1909. Brought back to life by the author's great-great grandson, Lee Jackson. This out-of-print tome provides valuable genealogical and historical information for family reseachers and others interested in regional history. Over 500 surnames are in this book. The Pike County Courthouse burned in the 1880's and much of its history would have been lost without this book. The new edition is manufactured from a pristine copy of the original edition and features a maroon cloth cover with embossed foil stamping on front and spine. 368 pages with photos. Hardcover. This was one of the first Mississippi history books written and one of the best.
