Description
""MAKE ME AN OFFER""" This is an Unique and 1 chance in a life time to own a part of what Fairy Tales are made from. THERE ARE ONLY TWO OF THESE IN EXISTANCE TODAY ONE BROUGHT TO CANADA AND THE OTHER REMAINS IN ENGLAND London Bridge Road Stud LONDON BRIDGES FALLING DOWN This was an AWSOME find. I have had it for years and have it in area in the house that is visible to see daily and vistors alike. It is the most INCREDIBLE conversation piece In the World. It's Value is un calculatable Let me Explain. This is an Original , Road Marker "STUD" that marked the end of the original and historical LONDON Bridge, where the bridge joined another major London city roadway known as Cheapside. Marker studs of this type are made of very hard steel ( I believe that is stud is made of NICKLE) were used at the junction of roads where a veichle had to stop for the driver to see if it was clear to enter into the juction and proceed onwards. When the original bridge over the river Thames , in the city of London , England was sold and dismantled and for the next three years, workers disassembled ,the bridge in London, then flew it's bricks to America where there were hauled to then-tiny Lake Havasu city, where they were reassembled over a newly dug lagoon and was ready for use in 1971. In preparation for dismantling of the bridge , the Corporation of London work crew removed the road studs plus all other non essential items. All were destroyed for scrap . ONLY TWO of the original historical metal ROAD STUDS are known to be in Existance today. ( THIS IS ONE OF THEM) the two were salvaged at the time off the actual London Bridge. The two were salvage by a Cocky kid that wanted a keepsake and a part of history and Old London . Especially as these road Studs have Coat of Arms and the intitals "ERA" This stud also carries a Foundry casting number on the back. This particular Road Stud was brought to Canada in 1974 The principal of the metal "Road Stud " was for the driver of horse drawn carrage, or Cart that had arrived at the road junction, in anticipation of entering into the cross road , to listen for the clatter of the two metals " The clatter of the Road Stud and that of the Metal of the Horse' shoes, on a dark and foggy night , then would only proceed when the road was clear...
