U.S. Patents 6,526,684 and 6,578,308 Firearm Safety Device Firearm Safety device My client, an established inventor with over 20 U.S. patents is offering U.S. Patents 6,526,684 and 6,578,308 for a Firearm Safety Device. These patents are less than 4 years old. Description An improved firearm safety device (FSD) for handguns. The firearm safety device helps prevents accidental firing of a gun by children but is easily removable by an adult, even in pitch darkness. The FSD includes a lock sleeve (26) having an expandable end plug (30) and a lock ring(24)having a removable tip(34) which are inserted through muzzle (16) of a gun barrel (14) into an empty firing chamber (20) . Removable tips, having different diameters, provided the proper expansion for different caliber handguns. A knurled cap (22) connected to the lock rod, is threaded attached to a knurled enlarged end portion (28) of the lock sleeve, forcing the expansion of the linear slotted (32) end plug, preventing removal of the FSD from the handgun. Since the FSD is able to rotate freely in its assembled position within the handgun, any attempt to unthread the knurled cap without holding the knurled enlarged end portion of the lock sleeve stationary, will be unsuccessful. The Fire Arm Safety (FSD) is a new, common sense safety device which securely blocks the firing chamber of a handgun to prevent the presence of a cartridge. The FSA is protected by 2 U.S. Parents 6,526,684 and 6,578,308 issued June 17, 2003 The purpose of the invention is to protect small children from being injured of killed by playing with loaded handguns that are left unattended. This situation occurs when the handgun owner does not have or has removed a safety device. The FSD makes it easy to install and remove by adults making the handgun quickly accessible if needed. The FSD can be removed using the child resistant locking device in seconds, even in total darkness. The FSD’s has a unique safety twist lock security feature. Other features include an alignment mark to determine if someone has attempted to remove the device, a secondary padlock capability making the removal resent to adults as well as children and the FSD is designed to adapt to gun cleaning rods and attachments. Summary The FSD was invented to provide handgun owner a method to lock their handguns in a way that it becomes child resistant while allowing the owner to have quick access if needed.
