Description
~ Voodoo Priestess Estate ~   14k Amalgam Gold   Shaman's Amethyst   &   Cloisonne Bead    Traveling Bracelet   ~!~ It has now been seven years since we were called to do the estate that had been closed up for seventeen years! Voodoo Estate! This type of call usually gets us excited as they are a treasure trove. Located here in Florida, there was no electricity or running water so we rigged our own lighting & in we went. If you have ever seen the Adams Family you will have some idea as to what we were greeted with! Then the attorney handling the liquidation gave us some background. The home had belonged to an alleged powerful Voodoo Priestess/JooJoo Exorcist, grand daughter of a Marie Laveau, & favored daughter of a Marie Glapion. This did not have much impact on us other than to cause an uneasy feeling when in the house & we declined to spend the night while inventorying, deciding to stay in a hotel to return during daylight. Our research has shown that this woman was what she claimed & was indeed descended from a long line of well known Vodoun family originating in New Orleans in the early 1800's. We were pretty unnerved by this until we discovered they were also devout Catholics! Although I have to admit this was unlike any Catholic home I have ever been in & some of the items found inside were a little more than unnerving. There was no feeling of dread or unwelcome in the home, however there was quite a bit of contraband & other items we can not sell here on ebay. This is one of a few pieces from this estate we will be listing this week, so check our other items! We will, upon the winning bidder's request, issue a named Letter of Authenticity with each piece from this estate, complying with the terms set forth to us by the estate's attorney. Back To The Auction Found in her travel wardrobe, this bracelet was part of a well inventoried lot of her traveling companions. Her journaled inventory tells us it is one of the many gold & gemstone lots with alleged metaphysical properties she had custom made. It was made under her supervision by one of her many practitioner, follower, makers with stones and/or metals of a particular source to enhance their powers. Amalgam Gold There are many of her journal entries pertaining to their custom made pieces being made from "amalgam silver and gold", taken from some pretty unsavory sources & of the ceremonious rituals in which she, with the help of the LiDiex, would remove the unwanted minerals such as mercury which were later used in potions, elixirs & glass. The gold in this bracelet is alleged to be this "Amalgam Gold." There are eleven 3.5 mm round beads & a trombone clasp that is marked "14K" with a "pat pend 3350153" mark.  This patent # dates to 1965-1967& belongs to Franz Einramhof et al. & the "Method of and Apparatus for Treating the Electrodes of a Cold Discharge Tube." Although the mid 1960's fits the timeline of this bracelet we can only speculate why this patent # is on the clasp. The clasp & beads test as 14k gold. ~!~ Shaman's Amethyst The thirteen 8 mm round amethyst beads used in this bracelet are alleged to have been cut from a single specimen.  One of the many finds she brought back from her 1962 Brazilian Shaman artifact hunt. Although she does not name them in her notes she solicited a handful of Shaman to relinquish some of their precious finds, usually in trade for guns. She writes of the stone being a hand picked cut, polished & strung into this bracelet by her own hand. She does write of this batch of amethyst as being highly regarded by these Shaman for their spiritual protection abilities & that her spells had enhanced them. Her notes indicate that this bracelet has had specific spells cast to it to offer protection from physical & psychic threats while traveling. She also writes, "the most powerful of the amethyst sources we found.  When excavating the stones and breaking them open I felt contentment as never before.  The items I have made these into have benefited my own meditations and their shielding powers have proven effective in warding off negative energies while attracting and amplifying positive ones.  They have been very effective in healing my clients suffering with sadness and grief." In another entry she notes of "never having having suffered attack while adorned with these spelled talisman." Real or imagined, we understand why she was as feared & respected as she was. The beads are of good cut & deep grape jelly color.  Eye clean with loupe visible inclusions. ~~~~~~~ The Cloisonne Beads The four 11.1125 x 9.525 are attributed as being part of a large lot purchased from "The Lucky Chinaman", a New York bead dealer she frequented in the area of Houston Street in the late 1950's, to late 1960's. ~!~ These beads have been strung on coated beading wire, most likely after the original silk that she favored broke.  This was most likely done in the late 1970's or later as this is about the time we see this being used in her strands. The bracelet measure approximately 6 7/8" in length.  It is certainly a near mint condition vintage bracelet that is much nicer than the pictures are able to depict. ~!~ We have been contacted & visited by a number of people who were interested in the items from this estate since our first batch was listed. Among the buyers have been known psychics & practitioners.More than one, after adorning themselves or handling their purchase, stated "this is a woman of power!" Many have reported dream contacts & psychic phenomenon after receiving items from this estate. Unusual, authentic Voodoo Priestess Estate piece & at a bargain price! This is truly a rare opportunity to own anything with attributes to this estate. The majority of this estate is now gone. 90% of what we had left, & it was considerable, has been split up & sold to a couple of private, foreign collector practitioners & will never be available to the public again. We made the decision to do this as we have had some pretty strange visits from even stranger individuals & there have been enough unexplained phenomenon going on in the warehouse where her things were kept that many of our employees refused to go in there. We have made the bidders identities Private for this auction & will continue to do so. The pieces offered & sold here on ebay are some of the few remaining pieces that will ever be offered to the public anywhere. Nice addition to any collection, wardrobe or decor, displays really well. Really doesn't get any better than this. It is what it is, so let's have an auction.
